<div class="description content"> <p>Thoughtworks is looking for a Health &amp; Safety Specialist to join our team in Romania to work both locally and globally to ensure Thoughtworkers are healthy and safe.</p> <p>As part of the global Workplace Operations &amp; Experience function you will get to have an extraordinary impact on Thoughtworkers who are in our City Hubs (Physical es), Community Hubs and remotely.&nbsp; You will collaborate with local People Teams and your peers within the function to develop and roll out best practice health and safety approaches that ensure we are not just meeting the basic requirements from a legal or regulatory stand point but create a strong safety culture.</p> <p>This role is a mix of strategy and execution and will suit someone with extensive domain expertise who wants to explore how they can broaden their impact.</p> </div> <h2 id="job-responsibilities">Job responsibilities</h2> <div class="job-responsibilities content"> <ul> <li>Develop, implement, and monitor the company’s health &amp; safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with Romanian Securitate și Sănătate în Muncă (SSM) legislation (e.g., Article 19) for establishing an internal prevention and protection service.&nbsp;</li> <li>Conduct risk assessments and workplace inspections to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement preventive measures.</li> <li>Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and local labor authorities.</li> <li>Keep up to date with changes in HSE legislation and best practices to ensure company compliance.</li> </ul> <h2 id="technical-skills">Technical Skills</h2> <div class="qualifications inner-content"> <ul> <li>Design and deliver health &amp; safety training programs for employees at all levels, including emergency response, first aid, ergonomics, and safe work practices.</li> <li>Promote a strong safety culture within the company by driving awareness campaigns and safety committees.</li> <li>Lead and manage safety drills and emergency preparedness exercises.</li> <li>Incident Management &amp; Reporting.</li> <li>Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.</li> <li>Maintain and analyze incident reports and trends to drive continuous safety improvements. Ensure the proper reporting of occupational illnesses and accidents to regulatory authorities.</li> <li>Act as the main point of contact for all health &amp; safety-related matters within the organization.</li> <li>Work closely with various functions to integrate HSE practices into daily business operations. Manage external audits, inspections, and interactions with health &amp; safety service providers (e.g., occupational health services, external risk prevention agencies).</li> <li>Develop and oversee emergency response plans and coordinate crisis management procedures.</li> <li>Ensure proper fire safety measures, evacuation plans, and emergency response team training.</li> <li>Develop an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) in Romania that is scalable globally, setting the standard for Health and Safety excellence across the organisation. Own the global implementation and provide expert guidance to local teams to ensure compliance in all locations</li> </ul> </div> </div> <h2 id="job-qualifications">Job qualifications</h2> <div class="job-qualifications content"> <ul> <li><strong>A mandatory Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in one of the fundamental fields: Engineering Sciences or Agricultural and Forestry Sciences.</strong><strong>Compliance with the higher-level training requirements, met by either:</strong> <ul> <li> <ul> <li>Completion of both: <ul> <li>Mandatory <strong>Inspector SSM / Specialist SSM</strong> certification, requiring completion of an 80-hour accredited SSM course.</li> <li>A diploma of a postgraduate education program in occupational Health and Safety, with a duration of at least 180 hours.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Or a Master's or Doctoral degree in the field of occupational Health and Safety (OSH/SSM).</li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> <li>Specialisation in Occupational Safety &amp; Ergonomics and Psychosocial Risks required.</li> <li>Minimum 3 years of experience in a Health and Safety role, preferably in a large or globally distributed organization with remote/tech-based teams.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of Romanian SSM legislation <strong>Law 319/2006</strong> (Health &amp; Safety at Work) and national norms.</li> <li>Certifications in Health and Safety (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor) are highly desirable.</li> <li>Fluency in Romanian and English (written &amp; spoken) is required.</li> </ul> </div> <h2 id="important-things">Other things to know</h2> <div class="important-things content"> <h3>Learning &amp; Development</h3> <div class="inner-content"> <p>There is no one-size-fits-all career path at Thoughtworks: however you want to develop your career is entirely up to you.
