About the position

Responsibilities

  • Collect medical records and cover letters needed, contacting clients for retrieval as necessary.
  • Track and follow-up on medical records and cover letters to be sent to physicians.
  • Log in all incoming records and cover letters received from clients.
  • Log out records to be sent via paper and electronic form.
  • Maintain a consistent flow of reports to the proofing and quality assurance departments.
  • Communicate overdue reports to appropriate physicians who are late with their dictation.
  • Delegate and prioritize physician dictation to transcriptionists, tracking and following up on late dictation as needed.
  • Answer Medical Records calls and monitor the Medical Records email account.
  • Sort daily mail and distribute to appropriate departments.
  • Request and check in/out films and respond to various client and physician needs.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English; ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Intermediate computer and database skills with proficiency using the internet and email.
  • One (1) year of medical records or medical office experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and prioritization skills with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrated teamwork orientation with effective interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills and the ability to maintain a positive attitude under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of claimant information.
